Sturt Street Cellars at the King’s Head Hotel is Adelaide’s only 100% South Australian bottle shop, tasting space and bar. Stocking 100% South Australian brands, predominantly family owned and fiercely independent labels with a focus on producers from all over the state pushing the boundaries in their field. SSC builds on the King’s Head’s reputation of championing best of SA though it’s passionate team and owner Gareth Lewis who is an Ambassador for Premium Food and Wine in the state government’s strategic priority program alongside a bunch of the state’s most respected chefs, winemakers and primary producers.
Being both a retail space and a bar within a hotel SSC will be a flexible space that will enable you to grab a bottle any time of day (the opening hours will mirror the pub) and drink it in the bar or in the al fresco and deck area by adding corkage of $15 to the retail price. The cellar also features a tasting program each week with wine on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon and beer Thursday evening. Themed weekly and monthly tasting events and masterclasses to be held in the old ‘keg room’ beneath the hotel that has laid dormant for the past 15 years.
